Resolutions

Okay, since all the blog buzz is New Years resolutions, I guess I'll add mine.  Blake and I have been thinking a lot about what we wanted to do to make this year great.  He has made up a whole calendar for the year in hopes to keep me organized!   I guess that is his subtle resolution for me:)
One thing that works great for Blake and I is making three resolutions for each other.  This has cut nagging in half!  Instead of me always nagging about stuff, I get it all out at the beginning of the year.  Then I know when it comes time to nag, I've already voiced my resolution, and that he must be trying his hardest to work on it.  After all, aren't we all trying our best most of the time?
I also have made more resolutions for myself.  I have lumped them all into one basic resolution.  It is the primary song, "If the Savior Stood Beside Me".  It is my current favorite primary song.  We asked the children in the Accra branch if they new this song.  Their faces lit up.  I could tell it was one of their favorites also.  They sang it for us, and I cried the whole way through.  I decided what a great and simple resolution this would be.  "If the Savior stood beside me, would I do the things I do? "  I won't bore you with all the of the lyrics.  I just hope that each day I ask myself that question.  Hopefully this will keep me on track with my other resolutions.  Have a very happy 2009!
Also, mom and dad.....we miss you!!  Life is not quite the same without you.  Best of luck at the MTC!!

I always make resolutions, but that Primary song is a good one to think about as I make my resolutions this year.

I love Primary songs!

Hey Allie~ I love blogs because I feel like it's easy to stay in touch. You are an amazing blogger! I'm not so dedicated. I enjoyed hearing about your Africa trip. WOW!!!

For some reason your blog words didn't show up. All I saw was a photo. So I highlighted where I knew the text must be and read a delightful post! So glad I didn't give up on technology. I think you're doing a great job on your resolution already! Thanks for the cute gift. I like your resolution -- it's one we could do for the rest of our lives.

I love that song, too! I think I should read it every morning before/after I say my prayers. Do you think that would help me stay focused? I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything I've set forth for this month and it's only the 7th. AAAGH! Great idea about making resolutions for each other! However, we aren't really naggers around here. I think we are too busy with our own projects/goals to make more to worry about. :) Mostly we operate in survival mode- Love the picture!

The words have finally appeared and I can read your blog. I find myself thinking about Africa a lot since you've been blogging about it. And for family home last night I read an article from the New Era from a missionary serving in that exact mission. It was about having a favorite hymn memorized to be able to sing to ourselves when we are tempted or feeling discouraged. Thanks for sharing.
